Depression in Teens

One of the most disturbing aspects about depression is that it can be found in almost anyone, regardless of the age or gender. The most horrific factor might be that depression is at times found in teens.

The main signs of depression in a teen are rather easy to identify, though that is the reason they tend to get ignored a lot of parents are under the impression that when a teen is depressed he/she is actually going through the “me” phase of life. Though that isn’t always the case, as you might notice that the teen in question is slowly withdrawing from society, friends as well as his/her loved ones. It’s a tell-tale sign that the teen is suffering from depression.

This is one way to identify that the teen might be dealing with depression, apart from that you’ll notice huge changes in eating patterns as well as the type of lifestyle he/she might be leading. For example you’ll notice that while withdrawing from his/her friends the teen might gather the company of people who are perhaps even anti-social.

The question that arises from all of this is how precisely you deal with such a teen. The answer is a simple word known as “Communication”. Yes that is the best and most suitable solution, though you might feel that therapy or perhaps prescription drugs are in order. But the fact of the matter is that you are NOT a doctor, and that decision is for the doctor to make.

Depression in teens can easily be dealt with, all you need to do is to provide the teen the attention and communication he/she might need from you.

Keeping these thing in mind I hope that your teen feels in a far better state of mind when you start this process of communicating with him/her.
